The Most Dangerous Countries in the World

Every year the Global Peace Index measures the relative position of countries’ peacefulness, drawing up charts which are very useful for everyone who loves to travel all around the world. There are 22 indicators which are examined and taken into account to determine the position of 162 countries. These indicators include the number of internal and external conflicts, the number of deaths caused by organized external conflicts, the number of deaths caused by organized internal conflicts, the level of terrorist activity, the level of violent crime, the political instability, the relationships with neighbor countries etc.
There is the list of most dangerous countries in the world according to the last Global Peace Index which should be taken into account before planning of international trip. Iceland is the most peaceful country in the world, but in the recent reports of most dangerous countries in the world Syria stands at the top position.
1. Syria
Syria, as mentioned before, is the most dangerous country in the world because of its civil war and the rise of ISIS – the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham. Syria has been put at the top position, taking into account following factors – murder levels, terrorism, military expentidure, as well as perceptions of criminality. Interesting, but in the year of 2008 Syria was 88th most peaceful country in the world.
2. Afghanistan
It is not a secret that the United States of America invaded Afghanistan after Twin Tower attacks on 11th of September. The conflict which is also known as American war in Afghanistan started in 2001 and is still going on. The aim of this war was to dismantle the al-Qaeda and to remove the Taliban from power. There is no detailed information about how much thousands of people have been killed since 2001.
3. Ukraine
The Ukrainian government was blamed for the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 which was shot down on 17th of July, 2014 when it was flying over the conflict area in Ukraine. To stop the protests in Ukraine which started already in February, 2014, the Ukrainian government launched a military counter-offensive, taking thousands of lives.
4. Iraq
The conflict in Iraq was also started by the United States of America in the year of 2003. In first 3-4 years of war more than 600 thousands people were killed and the governance of Saddam Hussein was toppled. The United States of America withdrew in the year of 2011, but nothing has stopped – the civil war has continued. The main cause of this civil war is the Islamic state which keeps expanding and occupying territories of country.
5. Sudan
The first war in Sudan was First Sudanese Civil War which took place from 1955 to 1972. The second war in Sudan was Second Sudanese Civil War which took place from 1983 to 2005, but the third war in Sudan was South Sudanese Civil War which took place from 2003 till present. Of course, there have been many other internal conflicts as well. Sudan is the country which still suffers from severe Islamic laws and intense slavery.
6. Pakistan
There are terrorists and rebel activities which make Pakistan as one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Apart from terrorists and rebels, Pakistan faces many other challenges such as poverty, illiteracy and corruption.
